Who we are

Jefferson Trust Limited is a company incorporated in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and registered as a trust company under the Registrar of Companies.

We hold a Trust or Company Service Provider (TCSP) licence, number TC005824, granted under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (Cap. 615). A TCSP licence is what Hong Kong requires of a business that forms companies, acts as or arranges for a trustee, or provides a registered office or company secretary for others.

You do not have to take our word for it. The Companies Registry publishes a public register of licensees, and you can check our number against it before you engage us. We would rather you did.

What that licence covers, and what it does not

A TCSP licence covers trust and company service work. It is not an authorisation to carry on regulated activity under the Securities and Futures Ordinance, nor a banking licence, nor an insurance authorisation. Where a matter needs a differently licensed firm, we say so and work alongside one.

Anti-money-laundering checks

Before we can act, the law requires us to identify and verify our clients and, where relevant, the beneficial owners behind them, and to understand the source of the funds and wealth involved. This is not optional and it is not a comment on you. Expect to be asked for identification documents and for evidence of where money came from.

If something goes wrong

Tell us first, in writing, at [email protected] or to 44/F Champion Tower, 3 Garden Road, Hong Kong, marked for the attention of the directors. We will acknowledge your complaint within five business days, tell you who is handling it, and give you a substantive response within thirty days. If we need longer we will tell you why and when to expect an answer.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the Companies Registry as the TCSP licensing authority. Complaints about personal data go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.
